Derek Powers was an American gay pornographic director, photographer, actor, and standup comedian. Powers was born in Vietnam but later adopted by a family from San Francisco. Derek Powers was an American gay pornographic director, photographer, actor, and standup comedian. Powers was born in Vietnam but later adopted by a family from San Francisco. On May 19th, 1996, Powers was murdered in this Hollywood, California home due to blunt force trauma to the head. There is still skepticism surrounding Powers' murder. According to rumors, Powers was killed by two of his male models, who tied him to a chair and struck him over the head with a claw hammer, while a second source says it was a domestic violence case involving Powers' roommate.
